About Us

Down Valley Flowers is a small, neighborhood farm in Montrose, Colorado specializing in wholesale cut flowers and custom hanging baskets. We practice no-till production methods, use natural inputs, and strive to foster biodiversity both above and below ground.

By focusing our efforts on wholesale production, we hope to increase the availability of farm-fresh flowers on the Western Slope and make it easier for fellow small businesses to source beautiful, local flowers.

While we primarily produce for florists, event planners, property managers, and other local businesses, we are happy to hear from anyone in need of flowers. Our farmer’s special buckets are perfect for DIY weddings and we’re excited to offer a la carte bouquet options later in the season. Tell us about your flower dreams, and we’ll make a plan.

Our Growing Practices

After decade of farming on rented land, Keegan feels incredibly privileged to start Down Valley Flowers in a little, previously neglected plot of land in Montrose, Colorado. We bought the land founded Down Valley Flowers in 2022.

We specialize in sustainable farming practices — we are no-till, use second-use ditch water, and grow according to organic standards, though we are not certified. We’re good at making it work, forming joyful partnerships with local businesses, and making flower dreams come true — starting with our own!

Our People

Keegan Athey

Keegan is a long time farmer, river guide, and desert rat. With more than ten years of experience in organic agriculture, she has pulled calves, carrots, muscles, and weeds on farms and ranches throughout the Mountain West.

Though she’s a bit sheepish to admit it, Down Valley Flowers is Keegan’s third farm business. Life is nothing if not ever-changing, and she’s grateful to apply the lessons of a decade of farm successes and failures to this new venture. Her previous farms were primarily produce operations, with cut flowers as a side project. Though she will always love growing vegetables, she’s energized by the opportunity to invest in cut flower and seed production. She’s hoping to farm well into her 80’s so she’s gotta keep things dynamic!

Andy Errickson

Andy is a kayaker, forester, river guide, wood enthusiast, and eager rookie flower farmer.

Andy brings seemingly infinite skills to the farm: from carpentry to finance to mechanics to jokes, he’s got it all. An expert in forestry, Andy provides the farm’s organic material, building material, machinery, and general positivity. In addition to co-owning Down Valley Flowers, Andy works in forests all over the West with Dillsworth Technical Tree Service, based in Telluride.

Keegan and Andy met working on Idaho’s Salmon and Snake Rivers in 2019. They moved to the Western Slope in 2020 and finally set down roots in Montrose. They founded Down Valley Flowers together in 2022.
