COOP

The COOP, affectionately called the “coop” (like chicken coop) is a collaboration between Down Valley Flowers and several other awesome Montrose and Gunnison farms. After unofficially collaborating for several years to fill wholesale orders that were getting bigger and bigger, we decided to team up! Flowers from these partner farms are now available to florists and designers through the Down Valley Flowers wholesale channel. Read more about our super farmers below!

If you are a florist or designer interested in becoming a new wholesale customer, please reach out to Keegan through our contact form and check out our Wholesale page for some more info.

Sandy Seed Farm

Sandy Seed Farm is a regenerative, small market farm located in Montrose, CO. We utilize plots of land within our community for food and flower production that would have become (or remained) landscaped. We’re currently growing at a few locations in Montrose, totaling about 3/4 acre of growing area. By using organic growing methods and minimal tillage, we transform unproductive spaces into community food assets. Our produce and flowers are grown in a way that enhances biodiversity and increases soil health, while providing a beautiful space for everyone to enjoy!

Gypsy Chicks and Blooms

Georgia is the heart behind Gypsy Chicks & Blooms, a small flower farm nestled in Montrose, Colorado. On her 35-acre farm, she grows seasonal cut flowers using regenerative farming practices, specializing in dahlias and unique blooms. Her husband, Mike, runs the hay field, helping keep the farm thriving. Together, they’re building a place centered on hard work, beauty, and community.

Sundrop Flora Flower Farm

Sundrop Flora Flower Farm is a woman-owned business fueled by flower farmer Jenna Hallock, her partner Eric, and their fluffy black cat, Kitty. Jenna’s mission is to nurture the land using regenerative practices, increase biodiversity by planting native perennials that support pollinators, and to make the farm and its flowers accessible to her Gunnison Valley community which she loves dearly.

Down Valley Flowers

In addition to managing the newly formed COOP, Keegan Athey runs Down Valley Flowers, a neighborhood farm in Montrose, CO specializing in wholesale, wedding-quality cut flowers for florists and designers. She put her 15+ years of farming experience to use by fostering a resilient and biodiverse farm system through no-till production methods, natural inputs, and a focus on long-term soil health. She is helped and cheered on by her sweet husband, Andy. By centering the farm’s efforts on wholesale production and collaboration, Keegan hopes to increase the availability of farm-fresh flowers on the Western Slope and make it easier for fellow small businesses to source beautiful, locally grown flowers.
